In “Oyinbo Karimu,” Mory Coco explores the intricacies of her childhood, illuminating the harsh realities of rural living with little resources and the effects they had on her. She invites readers to think about their own experiences and draw inspiration from her tale as she addresses topics of faith, parenting, friendship, and resilience through her observations.
“I lived on Karimu Street for thirteen years of my life.” Growing up with my single mother and her grandparents, I had to mature quickly. And I don't think I can preserve all of the knowledge that came along with this growth. In the hopes that it may improve the lives of those who come into contact with the book, I have gone ahead and shared this knowledge," Mory Coco explains.
The release date of "Oyinbo Karimu" is set for May 3rd, 2024.
