The Headies Award Returns Home For Its 17th Edition

The Headies Awards will return to Nigeria for their future edition after successfully hosting the 2022 and 2023 editions in the United States.

This decision stems from a desire to return the award event to its home nation. The Headies is a music awards programme founded in 2006 by Nigeria's Hip Hop World Magazine to honour outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music business.

The yearly ceremony includes performances by well-known and upcoming performers. The 16th Headies Awards, hosted at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, U.S., featured a remarkable roster of Nigeria's top performers and notable figures from the music and entertainment industries.

The Headies announced on their official Instagram page: "Over the past few years, Afrobeats—as music and a movement—has exploded beyond our shores and beyond our dreams.

"Our tracks have received billions of streams and landed on some of the world's most popular charts. Millions of web videos feature our music as the soundtrack. Our idols have sold out the biggest arenas, while African collaborations are doing unbelievable figures.

"The Headies played music in commemoration of this explosion. As the event that marked the entrance of our big music talents long before they swept the world, we appreciate the importance of spreading the good word about great music to new audiences. So the 2022 and 2023 editions of The Headies will take place in the United States.

"The world had the opportunity to observe our global and future stars. This year (2024), we are bringing the world back home: To the birthplace of the sound that has brought everyone to the dancefloor, launched viral videos, and positioned our continent at the forefront of global pop culture. "

Ladies & Gentlemen, The Headies is returning home. More information will be provided soon.
