After 16 years under Folio Communications, the historic Miss Nigeria contest will be led by acclaimed actress/producer Rita Dominic-Anosike and film director Mildred Okwo, co-owners of The Audrey Silva Company (TASC).
This is a big change for the famed event.
With the words, "I am thrilled and honoured to step into this new role at the Miss Nigeria organisation, an iconic institution that has long celebrated the strength, beauty, and intelligence of Nigerian women," the actress shared her pleasure and feelings of respect on Instagram.
She expressed her gratitude to Fidelis Anosike, the publisher of the Daily Times and her husband who founded Folio Communications, for believing in her capacity to lead the pageant in a different way.
The idea behind Rita Dominic's Miss Nigeria is the empowerment of young ladies. A place "where dreams take flight, confidence soars, and leadership is nurtured is what she desires. Every young lady in Nigeria should have confidence in her own abilities, talent, and capacity to change the world. That's not all, though. We're here to provide the performance with a novel angle and a fresh spark. Our goal is to produce an event that is both entertaining and empowering. From the youngest to the oldest Nigerian, we want to arouse their sense of excitement. A new generation of Nigerians should observe, be inspired, and have high dreams."
A new board of directors, consisting of outstanding professionals from a variety of industries, is part of the pageant's transformation. They are all committed to upholding the pageant's extraordinary tradition and promoting female empowerment. These people include, among others, Olatomiwa Williams, Associate Vice President of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority; Aisha Kyari, Asset Manager and Founder of Modd Management Company; Wunmi Ogunbiyi, the 24th Queen of Miss Nigeria and the Founder and CEO of aCubed Limited; and Chioma Okigbo.
The previous chairman of the contest, Fidelis Anosike, thanked Chief Atinuke Oyelude, the first Miss Nigeria, and the people who founded Miss Nigeria. He feels that Rita Dominic's The Audrey Silva Company is the best organisation to carry on the pageant's legacy and that it is time for new leadership at Miss Nigeria.
He declared, "I'm convinced that she will elevate the pageant and make Nigerians proud. We cordially welcome the Audrey Silva firm into the Miss Nigeria 1957 alliance, full of optimism that the Miss Nigeria platform would develop into a trust for the empowerment of young Nigerian women."
