Netflix Releases Official Trailer For Upcoming Thriller, "The Black Book" By Editi Effiong

The official trailer for Nigerian producer and director Editi Effiong's upcoming movie "The Black Book" has been launched in association with the world's largest media streaming service, Netflix.

"Up North," "Day of Destiny," and "The Set Up" were all produced by Editi Effiong under the banner of Anakle Films.

He made his directing debut with the short film Fishbone. Effiong describes the film, which marks his first full-length directorial effort, as "a very human narrative of a father who is fighting for justice when his son is killed by individuals."

He explains the source of his inspiration for The Black Book as follows: "Nigeria has a history of drug trafficking; The Black Book analyses that history from the 1980s and how those events affected what we have now. The young people who have taken the brunt of that violence are also given a lot of respect."

Aside from Richard Mofe-Damijo, the film also stars Olumide Oworu, Sam Dede, Shaffy Bello, Iretiola Doyle, Taiwo Ajayi Lycett, Ade Laoye, Ikechukwu Onunaku, Patrick Doyle, and Bimbo Manuel.

The plot of the film centres on a grieving deacon who fights a corrupt police gang to clear his son of a kidnapping accusation after his son is falsely accused of it.

On September 22, 2023, "The Black Book" will make its world premiere exclusively on Netflix.
