Davido Gives In To Pressure, Deletes Contentious 'Jaye Lo' Music Video

David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is a Nigerian Afrobeat musician who received criticism from Islamists over a controversial music video that he deleted.

The Davido Music Worldwide label head and his signee, Olamilekan Taiwo, alias Logos Olori, reportedly made a commotion online after the release of the latter's latest album, "Jaye Lo," and elicited conflicting responses from internet users.

Friday saw Davido share a 45-second snippet of the new video on Instagram, which has since caused tongues to start buzzing.

Numerous Muslim followers have condemned the video as disrespectful and are now demanding a retraction while threatening to sue the performers.

In the contentious clip, some guys were depicted as praying mallams who were instead dancing in front of a mosque.

Some Muslim adherents have since found this dancing move to be objectionable.

However, a look at Davido's social media profiles revealed that the video had been removed.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari's advisor, Bashir Ahmad, applauded the musician for taking down the video in response to the incident.

He wrote on Twitter, "It is good to discover that Davido deleted that offensive and hurtful video. Hopefully, the entire scene will also be deleted from the actual footage before releasing it to the market, and we humbly urge that the same grave mistake should never happen again from him or anyone else.

"Nigeria is a beautiful country. It is always amazing when we celebrate the beauty of living in unity and harmony while embracing our differences."

Another Twitter user who goes by the handle @PoojaMedia praised Davido and his staff for handling the situation with maturity.

"You have to give credit to Davido's PR staff for turning negative energy into something positive. Gifted the woman $10,000, removed the video, and released the gift video along with prayers for Davido to catch and harness fresh energy. If you're in the PR industry, you have a lot to learn in just 24 hours."

@lollypeezle wrote, "I understand why they were putting all the blames for Davido video on Peter Obi. It is justifiable. The father that born Davido ehn is the father of the mother that is the half-brother to the son of the first father-in-law to the last daughter of the Obi family. Can you too see?"
