Baba Ijesha: I Got Death Threats – Comedienne Princess

Nigerian comedienne and actress, Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, has stated that she got death threats after speaking out about her colleague, Olanrewaju Omiyinka a.k.a Baba Ijesha.

Baba Ijesha was arrested and arraigned before the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court last year after he was caught in an indecent position with a child on camera.

Princess, whose foster child was the victim in the case, noted that after she decided to take the case up, a bounty was laid on her life and she had death threats.

She made this known in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, which was published late Thursday, following Baba Ijesha’s sentencing.

Baba Ijesha was sentenced on Thursday after facing six counts of child defilement that included indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

Justice Taiwo Oluwatoyin found the defendant guilty of two of the six counts against him and sentenced him to jail for 16 years, adding that the sentence will run concurrently for five years.

Speaking in the video published late Thursday, the comedienne noted that she had earlier regretted speaking out about the case. When asked if she felt regret, Princess said, "Now, I don’t, but in the first two to three weeks, I did." She noted that she felt regret because "they put a bounty on my head.  They wanted to kill me.

"Some people that I respected so much, I found out that they were the ones pushing him (Baba Ijesha)."

Following the sentence, the comedienne had taken to her Instagram page to write, "God is not man," as she shared a video of herself praising God.
