INEC, The Clown Institution As Fourth Placed Candidate Is Declared Winner By Court
The election held in March 2019, by the Commission saw the APC candidate declared by the Commission as the fourth placed candidate with a total of 96,458 votes excluding votes in 318 polling units in the state, making the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Emeka Ihedioha, the winner of the election with total of 273,404 votes.
This declaration was annulled by the apex court after examining all evidence including that of a subpoenaed Police witness who corroborated the claims of the Senator Uzodinma that the exclusion of the 318 polling units was unlawful and thereby making him the winner of the election accruing in the 318 polling units total votes of 213,699 and a total of 310,153 votes.
The questions that relatively come up in mind of every Nigerian are: How come votes excluded in a whopping 318 polling units across the state were declared unlawful; is it that the INEC an institution supposedly "independent" and free from any external influence, cannot be trusted to deliver to Nigerians a free and fair results of their interest? and how can Nigerians be at peace knowing their votes count when the body charged with this duty has from time to time betrayed the trusts and shouldn't a more reprehensible law be put in place for officers found guilty or in collusion with any candidate or officers with interests in a certain election?
The apex court has done its bits and has given its decision based on evidence presented, but if every institution does its own part diligently without fear or favor, the judiciary would not be overwhelmed with cases and it will promote a better working society for us all.
