Marvel Star, Elizabeth Olsen Reveals Her "Terrible" Game Of Thrones Audition

Elizabeth Olsen may have secured a role in the coveted Marvel universe after debuting as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, but there was another huge part she auditioned for which clearly wasn't meant to be.

The actress has revealed that she once auditioned to be the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen, in Game of Thrones, but her attempt to impress the casting directors didn't go exactly to plan.

Speaking at Vulture’s Emmy studio, the actress said that she will always remember the audition for all the wrong reasons.

"When I first started working, I just auditioned for everything, because I like auditioning," she said.

"And I auditioned for Khaleesi. I forgot that. It was the most awkward audition I’d ever had."

Explaining that she'd auditioned with one of Daenerys' monologues from the first season, from when she burned, Olsen said that she had struggled to use two different accents during the scene.

"She’s making this speech to thousands of people about how she’s their queen," she said.

"They didn’t know if they wanted a British accent or not. So, you did it in both.

"It was terrible. Anytime someone says, 'Bad audition story.' That’s one I remember."

But her loss of the role of Daenerys may have been a blessing in disguise, as Olsen now gets to enjoy Thrones as a regular viewer - and she's slightly obsessed.

"I’m just so deep in Game of Thrones that all I can think about is Kit Harington," she said.

"I mean, he's just brainwashed me." There's always a silver lining - and we can't imagine anyone else playing Daenerys now except Emilia Clarke.

Clarke recently spoke about her own transformation working on the series, saying: "It's been such an incredible journey to be with her, as she starts off so timid, naive, scared and vulnerable – all the things I was!

"And then each season she transforms into a different person, each season she grows and summons strength that is beyond my own, but has brought about a resilience within myself.

"Getting to play her, standing on a mountain and speaking to 700 supporting artists in a different language... you've got to grow some balls."

Some fans haven't been happy about Dany's actions in the most recent episode of Thrones, with 'The Bells' being the worst rated episode of the show ever.
