Aston Villa Fans React On Twitter To £12m-Rated Striker Speculation

Jordan Ayew could set to quit Aston Villa for the Chinese Super League – and fan on Twitter have stated that they would gladly see him leave.

The Sun claim that the £12million-rated striker is attracting the interest of Chinese side Shanghai SIPG who plan to make a swoop for the player.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty with Ghana, where he is set to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations which starts at the weekend.

It is said the versatile attacker, who had to take a huge pay cut after Villa’s relegation last season, would be tempted by the huge salaries in China as other Super League clubs show interest in the player.

Fans on social media were in agreement that they would be happy to see him leave as they feel he has not contributed much to the Championship campaign.

Ayew has not scored since the 2-1 win at Reading in October where he netted a late penalty which secured the first win under manager Steve Bruce.

However, supporters feel the Ghana international is overrated and should be sold with the money from his transfer used to buy Tom Cairney.

One fan stated that he would not sell Ayew for under £20 million, while another jokingly said that he wouldn’t even pay £12 for his services.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

If Ayew were to leave then his last game for the club would have been a 1-1 draw at Villa Park against promotion-chasing Leeds.

The other Villa attackers Bruce can choose from is Ross McCormack, Gabby Agbonlahor and Jonathan Kodjia – the latter is away on AFCON’s duty.

In other Aston Villa transfer news, the club is close to agreeing terms with this 21-year-old.
