Mignolet To Feature For Liverpool Vs. Leicester

Simon Mignolet looks set to keep his place when Liverpool play host to Premier League champions, Leicester City this weekend.

But with Loris Karius back in training after breaking his hand in preseason, Jurgen Klopp will soon have to make a decision as to who his No. 1 goalkeeper is.

Karius is relatively unproven despite having made 91 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz 05, to whom Liverpool paid £4.7 million to acquire his services over the summer.

While he's not exactly a novice, playing for Mainz does not bring the same kind of intense scrutiny and pressure that representing Liverpool does. Just ask Mignolet, who was highly thought of after a few good years with Sunderland from 2010 to 2013 but has since been pilloried for much of his time at Anfield.

Karius was one of the top goalkeepers in Germany last season, and at just 23 years of age looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. Until he actually gets in the team and lives up to his billing, however, nothing should be taken for granted.

Aside from a couple of preseason outings, most Liverpool supporters have never seen him play, yet almost all would have him in the team sooner rather than later. It's not necessarily that they know Karius is the answer, it's more that they're sure Mignolet isn't.
