Alexi Iwobi Set For Arsenal Return Vs Southampton This Weekend

Arsenal youngster, Alex Iwobi has handed the club a major boost by returning to full training earlier than expected. 

The 20-year-old forward was initially expected to miss around a month after going off in the first game of the season against Liverpool, but is now in line to face Southampton on Saturday.

Iwobi shone in the Gunners’ first-team last season after a late introduction to the side in the final few months of the campaign.

According to the Daily Mirror, Iwobi has now shaken off his hip injury and could play against the Saints, though Arsenal will have to wait a little longer for midfielder Aaron Ramsey to make a comeback. Still, Iwobi’s presence gives Arsene Wenger plenty of options in attack, with new signing Lucas Perez also possibly in line for his debut at the Emirates Stadium.

After a slow start to the 2016/17 season, Arsenal’s attack clicked into gear in their last Premier League outing, a 3-1 win at Watford.
