Kyle Walker-Peters A Key Reason Spurs Agreed To Yedlin Sale
The 19-year-old is one of a number of hugely promising talents that have come through the academy side in the last couple of years with the full-back also getting attention for the obvious similarity in name to the player he may ultimately be trying to replace in the first-team squad.
Walker-Peters was linked with a move to Eredivisie side Roda JC midway through last season, with the Dutch outfit trialing him ahead of a possible loan according to ESPN.
That switch never ended up happening, but it was an indication of the level of the player's talent, and clearly he has impressed Pochettino since the Argentine first arrived at the club.
With Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier, the first- and second-choice options at right-back, Pochettino may have thought Yedlin be allowed to move for his own benefit, with Walker-Peters capable of filling in at both full-back positions.
At 23-years-old, and having just got a season of Premier League football under his belt with Sunderland, the US international will have quite rightly wanted to push on with his career, rather than battle Trippier for a role that would see him on the fringes of the first team if Yedlin were unable to move ahead of the former Burnley man.
