Klopp Gives Latest Liverpool Injury Update Ahead Of Tottenham Game
The Germany international and former Lille striker picked up injuries during Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over Burton Albion in the League Cup second round at the Pirelli Stadium mid-week.
Can was a second-half substitute in Liverpool’s 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their opening Premier League game but didn’t feature in last weekend’s 2-0 loss to Burnley.
Meanwhile, Origi was a 65th-minute replacement for Daniel Sturridge at Turf Moor as Liverpool registered 26 shots on goal but couldn’t make the breakthrough despite 80 per cent possession.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference at Melwood on Thursday ahead of this weekend’s trip to White Hart Lane, Klopp confirmed that Can and Origi are unlikely to feature against Spurs.
"There are a few players a little bit in doubt, of course. It’s not too serious.
"We had a game on Tuesday and the next game is in two days again, so we need to wait a little bit.
"Of course, it’s Emre – there’s nothing really serious in the ankle but it’s ‘his’ ankle if you want, where he had a few problems in the past.
"It shouldn’t be too long, for sure, but maybe too long for the Tottenham game, I don’t know in this moment.
"It’s the same with Divock. It’s nothing serious really. But if you have cramp, whatever the cramp exactly is because [there are] different levels, you need to have a look at it too. So it’s not for sure that they will be available," Klopp said.
Liverpool haven’t lost to Tottenham since November 2012 after building up a seven-game unbeaten run against the north London side. The Reds have already won in north London in this season’s Premier League.
