Prison Break Season 5: Purcell Takes Credit For Revival Alongside Miller

As anticipation for Prison Break season five continues to soar, Dominic Purcell has revealed that fans can thank him and Wentworth Miller for its revival. 


According to the actor, he and Miller brought the idea of bringing the show back to Fox, who were coincidentally already drawing up plans themselves.

Since Prison Break appeared to wrap up in 2009, Purcell and Miller have teamed up again for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, so it seemed inevitable that the prospect of reprising their old characters Lincoln Burrows and Michael Schofield would crop up.

 "Wentworth and I decided, 'Why not revisit Prison Break?' - and so we went to the studio and they were excited about the idea and here we are,” Purcell explained.

"Prison Break was such an iconic show and it was something that we were very interested in revisiting, and they pulled out all the stops. So it's going to be a tremendous show."

 He admitted the studio also began twiddling their thumbs when Miller announced he was coming out of his “semi-retirement”.

"I think the studio always wanted to at some point revisit Prison Break, but at some point Wentworth kind of semi-retired from the business.

"He gave himself a break and focused on writing. He's jumped back into the fray now and as soon as Wentworth was on board, that's when the dominos started to fall," he said.

 Several familiar faces have confirmed they’re also returning for the reboot, with Sarah-Wayne Callies and Robert Knepper both signing up to reprise their roles as Sara Tancredi and T-Bag respectively, while filming is expected to commence later this month.
