Kaduna APC Suspends Senator Shehu Sani
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, has suspended the Senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, for a period of 11 months over his alleged constant criticism of policies of the party's led government both at the state and federal level.
The
suspension was contained in a letter from the Tudun Wada Ward 6 in
Kaduna North Local Government, signed by the party's secretary, Ahmed
Abdulhamid and the Public Relations Officer, Aminu Alilan on Monday.
The
party said that the decision was arrived at after a meeting held on
December 27, 2015 which reviewed a subcommittee report on allegations
made against the senator.
The party listed Mr Sani’s offences to include, uttering statements that allegedly "violated the rules of engagement of the party, factionalizing the party, and engaging in anti-party activities by criticizing the policies of Governor Nasir El-Rufai.”

"Hardly
a week passes by that his group will not be on air criticizing and
challenging the enduring legacies of Nasir ElRufai, that his
statement on national issues is not in conformity with that of the
state government and government of Kaduna State", it said.
While
stating that the Senator has remained consistently in confrontation
with what they believed to be good policies of the current APC-led
government in Kaduna State, the party unanimously agreed that Senator
Sani should be suspended for a period of 11 months and shall
henceforth, be disengaged in partaking or attending any of the
party's activities in Kaduna State subject to other punitive measures
respectively.
When
contacted, an aide of Mr Sani, Suleiman Ahmed, said it was clear that
those who wrote the letter were ignorant of the laws guiding the APC.
"Our reaction is that those that wrote this
letter are ignorant of the party’s constitution and they are
dancing to the tune of the state executive of the party and Governor
Nasir El-Rufai".
Mr Ahmed said that the party was out to stop the Senator from voicing his views about
what he considers the anti-people policies of Governor El-Rufai’s
administration.
