Groups Protest Against Nomination Of Lai Muhammad

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have kicked against the nomination of Lai Muhammad as ministerial nominee from Kwara State.

Gathered at the Ajase Ipo secretariat of the Kwara South zone of the party on Sunday, the APC youth forum from Kwara South, in a press conference, alleged that Mr Mohammad is not a card carrying member of the party in the state and has not contributed to the growth and welfare of party members.

Addressing a press conference under the name, Coalition Groups of APC members from Kwara South, the spokesman of the group, Yinka Ayeni, wondered how Mr Mohammad could be chosen to represent the state when he has not contributed anything to the upliftment of members.

President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Mr Ayeni, has the right to choose anybody to work with, but wondered how somebody who has not contributed to the growth and success of the party could be chosen above others.

Also, at the party’s secretariat in Ilorin, the group, led by another Leader, David Omokanye, said that Mr Mohammad is not a card carrying member of the party in Kwara State as he was alleged to belong to Lagos State politically rather than Kwara State.

They urged the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie Oyegun, to carry their grievances to the National Assembly for Mr Mohammad not to be screened as he did not represent majority of the people of the state.

Responding while receiving the letter of protest, the State’s Chairman of the APC, Ishola Fulani, affirmed that though, President Buhari has the constitutional right to appoint anyone to work with, he was however silent on whether he would forward their protest letter to the appropriate quarters or not.
