Ex-Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke Arrested

Former Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke has been arrested in London.

Reports said that Mrs Allison-Madueke was arrested on Friday in the British capital by the U.K. National Crimes Agency for offences bordering on bribery, corruption and money-laundering.

She was said to have been arrested along with four other people.

The immediate past Petroleum Minister was reputed to have been one of the most influential members of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

It is not yet known if Mrs Allison-Madueke’s arrest was based on a request from the Nigerian Government.

But a few days ago at the UN General Assembly, President Muhammadu Buhari, made it clear that those who misappropriated billions of Naira belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation would soon be prosecuted.
