Dogara Condemns Abuja Blasts
The
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Yakubu Dogara, has
condemned Friday night's bomb blasts in Kuje and Nyanya, in the
Federal Capital Territory, Abuja
In
a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public
Affairs, Turaki Hassan, Dogara described the attacks as callous and
saddening.
He
said the bomb blasts had shattered the peace in and around Abuja for
one year now.
"I
condole with families of victims of these dastardly, heinous and
barbaric acts.
"With
the successes being recorded by the military in the North East, it
has become apparent that Boko Haram is facing imminent defeat after
six years of terror reign in our country.
"These
well-coordinated and planned attacks were carried out to instill fear
in the minds of the citizens.
"We
condemn it in its totality as the handwork of evil-possessed
minds.Nigerians cannot be cowed into caving in to terror.
"I
commiserate with families of the victims, may the good Lord grant
them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
"I
also pray to God to grant quick healing and recovery to the injured.
"While
it is not in doubt that our security agencies are winning the war on
terror, these kind of attacks showed that there is much work to do
about intelligence gathering and sharing.
"Terrorism
cannot be totally defeated with physical might as terrorists resort
to different means to carryout horrible and monstrous acts as these.
"There
should be more of inter-agency intelligence gathering and sharing
which is the surest way to prevent any such attack.
"Nigerians
should also be vigilant and security conscious and help the security
agencies with information.
"I
will call on all Nigerians to perverse in their prayers for peace and
stability in our nation.
"As
people of faith, we all believe in the power of prayers and when we
persist in prayers, God will surely answer us and give us victory
over evil and bloodthirsty terrorists", Honorable Dogara said.
