Kwara Police Arrest 26 Suspected Cult Members

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 26 members of two cult groups involved in a clash.



The cultists are suspected to be students of Kwara State Polytechnic.

However, the management of the school denied the clash ever took place adding that the school had earlier finished its academic session and closed the school.

Confirming the arrest, the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said one death occurred inside the polytechnic while another death occurred as a result of reprisal attacks at Agbo Oba area of Ilorin.

He noted that 43 arrests were made while 26 would soon be charged to court.

The Deputy Rector,  Ahmed Ayodele, noted that the students union election venue where the alleged cult member was killed, was supervised by security operatives, maintaining that it was held without hitches.

At the spot where the cult member was said to have been killed, some student leaders were seen putting finishing touches to the construction of some structures while the President of the Students' Union Government, Abdurahman Muhammad denied the death of the student.

He confirmed the death of a cult member outside the school but not within the school premises.
