Nigeria Army Deploys 700 Soldiers To Liberia

The Nigerian Army has deployed 700 Officers and soldiers to Liberia on a Peace Keeping Mission.

Speaking during the passing out ceremony at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State, on Saturday,  the Chief of Army Staff, LT General Tukur Buratai warned the soldiers against any acts of cowardice or professional negligence while carrying out their operations in Liberia.

The deployment of soldiers by the Nigerian Army, is In line with meeting its commitment to the United Nations in ensuring peace reigns in all parts of the world.

The Army chief was also at the combined graduation ceremony of basic airborne course 37 and basic rigger course 23 of the airborne wing of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, also in Jaji.

LT General Tukur however, asked Nigerian troops to key into his vision of having a professional responsive force capable of discharging its constitutional roles and tackling the security challenges Nigeria is currently faced with.

The Commandant of the Peacekeeping Centre, Major General Imomotimi Birigeni said that he is certain that the troops are well harmed for the task ahead.

Since 1960 when it inducted its first peace contingent to Congo, the Nigerian Army had contributed to several peacekeeping operations at continental and regional levels and it is expected to continue while ensuring peace in the north east of Nigeria.
