Jose Mourinho Notes Terry's Constitency At Pre-Leicester Media Conference

Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea FC boss, looked back and forward at his pre-Leicester media conference on Monday, April 27.


After praising John Terry’s performance in north London, Mourinho spoke about the captain, saying he thought he was the best centre-half he had ever coached, noting his consistency, trophies won, international caps and goalscoring ability.

After training at Cobham on Monday, Mourinho will take every player – fit or not – to St George’s Park, England’s national training facility, to prepare for our match at Leicester on Wednesday night. That will include Oscar, taken off at half-time at the Emirates after a collision, and Diego Costa.

“I really don’t know how Oscar is,’ reported Mourinho, ‘but the most important thing is that he is not in hospital.”

“He went immediately to his house yesterday, slept at home, and he should be arriving [today].”

Mourinho added: “I don’t know about Diego Costa. I have to think about if it deserves a gamble or if we wait a few more days to be completely sure. If it was a player without an injury history I would play him tomorrow, but because he is a player with a history I have to think about that,” he said.

“I don’t plan to make many changes. I know Leicester played on Saturday and we played on Sunday, but we will try to recover the players as best as we can. We go today to St George’s to prepare as best we can.”

“We will leave the young players here to play their cup final against Man City so we don’t take them with us. Our squad is very short with the injuries we have and so there is no space for a lot of rotation.”

Mourinho is looking forward to catching up with Esteban Cambiasso, an important member of our boss’s Treble-winning Inter Milan team. Mourinho said he was not surprised to see the Argentinean broaden his horizons by moving to the Premier League.

During the conference, Mourinho also commented on some of his own players, including Eden Hazard, who last night, won the PFA Player of the Year award. He said he was very happy for the Belgian, and added he thought Cesc Fabregas in particular deserved a spot in the Team of the Year selection.
