Jega Says He Will Conduct 2015 Elections
The
chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),
Professor Attahiru Jega, says he will conduct the 2015 elections and
will not resign as the chairman of the commission.
The
INEC chairman spoke at town hall meeting in Abuja on Monday.
Professor
Jega fielded questions on security for the elections, preparation for
the elections and the card reader.
With
less than two weeks to the 2015 general elections, there are still
concerns about the preparation of INEC for the general elections.
Officials
of the commission were at a town hall meeting in Abuja to address
some of these concerns.
One
key concern had to do with security for the elections.
The
INEC officials also took questions through twitter and facebook. some
of the concerns touched on peoples inability to get their cards and
how reliable the card readers are.
One
key question was if the chairman of the commission was under pressure
to resign.
Others
were still convinced INEC was not prepared for the elections earlier
scheduled for February 14.
